Tuesday night...

Last night life threw Bob Evans Lemons.. and our very-short staffed team made some amazing lemonade..!!! (old cliche-ha ha)

If you never worked at a resturant before you probably won't understand.. but there was only one manager and 8 employees.. enough to have one person in each position and 3 servers... We had to go to limited seating.. We had our dish washer running food.. The buser was running refills.. I was hosting.. dealing with the seating issues.. watching the floor.. running drinks and even serving some tables myself..!

I'm ringing a customer out and my boss seats a table right up front.. next thing I hear is him saying... "And Rachel will be your server tonight..." I'm surprised but walk over and at least get their drinks.. I go to the back and check with him.. to make sure he didn't accidentally say the wrong name... Nope.. Now you know we are in trouble if a manager asks a hostess to serve a table!!

It was a rough night but I received no complaints.. We did mess up one carry-out.. I don't even know what was wrong-the manager just told me she got a new spaghetti...

I was so proud of my younger sister, Elizabeth.. She hasn't been serving very long but she did awesome...

The manager thanked each of us for all help and hard work... And we walked away feeling like we had done our best and it was enough...

I don't want nights like that often.. but every once in a while.... Well.. it keeps us on our toes and sharp at our jobs... To be honest it felt wonderful! We've been kind of slow.. I needed something to stretch me...

Anyway.. That's how my tuesday night went! Hope yours was just has interesting!!

Rachel

P.S... That's all four of us at the top... :) after a day at bobs... lol

Good Morning!
My day started off bright and early.. Was up at 6:30 to take my little sister to driver's ed.. After I dropped her and the two girls she car pooling with-I met up with Beth downtown.. :)
We ended up having breakfast at Bob Evans.. I couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted that was breakfast-y.. :) So I ordered Potato Soup! YUM! :)
Beth had to work this morning so we didn't hang long.. But I had a wonderful time just talking.. I was feeling so happy and peaceful.. For once I could talk about the future without flipping out.. :) It's nice to have someone to share with.. Thanks Girl.. :)
The above pix is from this morning.. It was so bright and sunny.. :) perfect day.. :)
I have a little to do list started.. Hoping to get it done in the next few weeks.. :)
1. Finish my red dress (almost)
2. Get my oil changed in my car
3. Get my car checked out to figure out why the engine light on
4. Pay a rather whooping cell phone bill (which dave actually owes most of)
5. Order some material for a white beach dress
6. Hit the mall
7. Possibly try my hand at golf
8. Try and run/jog a mile about every day

Lol a very practical list.. Not putting up my dream/wish list... Gonna keep that to myself!
Have an amazing day.... Rae

P.S. the book from the last post... Bambi! :)

*Leaves*

One branch of the oak reached high above the others and stretched far out over the meadow. Two leaves clung ot its very tip.
"It isn't the way it used to be," said one leaf to the other.
"No," the other leaf answered. "So many of us have fallen off to-night we're almost the only ones left on our branch."
"You never know who's going to go next," said the first leaf. "even when it was warm and the sun shone, a storm or a cloudburst would come sometimes, and many leaves were torn off, though they were still young. You never know who's going to go next."
"The sun seldom shines now, " sighed the second leaf, "and when it does it gives no warmth. We must have warmth again."
"Can it be true," said the first leaf, "can it really be true, that others come to take our places when we're gone and after them still others, and more and more?"
"It is really true," whispered the second leaf. "we can't even begin to imagine it, it's beyond our powers."
"It makes me very sad," added the first leaf.
They were silent a while. Then the first leaf said quietly to herself, "Why must we fall?. . ."
The second leaf asked, "What happens to us when we have fallen?"
"We sink down. . . ."
"What is under us?"
The first leaf answered, "I don't know, some say one thing, some another, but nobody knows."
The second leaf asked, "Do we feel anything, do we know anything about ourselves when we're down there?"
The first leaf answered, "Who knows? Not one of all those down there has ever come back to tell us about it."

So I read a 293 page book sunday.. and loved it..!
This is a little bit of one of my favorite chapters in the book.. Love how the author showed autumn by having the leaves talking to each other about falling..
Anyway.. Was hoping I could get some guesses what the book was.. :)
Have a good day!! Rachel
